    The shape is a departure from the norm - cylindrical or anything but fish-like. Good on them not to copy others.

    Technically, so long their diameters are smaller than that of the torpedo tubes, they can all be launched from subs, naturally with the aid of an adapter to guide them out of the tubes.

    it looks like they are developed to all be launch able from submarines.

    they could be launched by submarines to detect enemy submarines or ships and beam back location information underwater probably via sound communication, although they would be exposed but the receiving subs won't and they are hard to kill as they are smaller than a torpedo.
