Hi,

Has any of you read the news from yesterday that the American Reaper Drone carried 4----500 lb bombs and dropped them at a taliban drug factory in AFG.

That is a massive amount of ordinance on a drone---.

Around 900kg of ordnance. That's doable for the CH-5 whose maximum weapons load is 900-1000kg.

The Pterodactyl-2 only has a maximum weapons load of 480kg though.

The US uses her resource (drones) to bomb the terrorists that they decide should be contained.

China makes money selling drones and let their customers decide which terrorists they want to bomb.

4 x 500lb bombs? How big was this factory to need that much ordinance. Or was it perhaps the act of dropping so much ordinance ‘in combat’ that was the real point of the mission?

Does anyone know what's the typical number of planes per UAV unit? There are several BZK5/7 battalions in PLAAF and a few WD1 brigades. How many such uavs would such a battalion hold, and how many would a brigade?

I am looking for some substantiated info, not pure guesswork. (satellite imagery of bases showing something worthwhile is fine, of course)
