I feel that the J-20 stole the spotlight in this report, which also leaked that the Su-35 carried some sort of "machine learning algorithm" that allowed ordinary fighter pilots to defeat Golden Helmet winners in close-range combat. What's your opinion?

I'm going to take a long shot in the dark here Siege, and suppose this is in reference to something similar to F-35's advance situational awareness, giving you specific information on "where the OPFOR is, and possibly even weapon preference and targeting solutions to "take him out"

feel free to "shoot me down??", but that's just my educated guess??

It's the usual "sensor fusion" and assorted marketing stuff they've been talking about for 10 years now. All modern fighters have software assisting pilots to varying degrees. Optimising all parameters of an engagement with determined factors calculated into the equation e.g. number of friendlies, assets, weapons, speeds and altitude etc. Nothing new or surprising. What would be surprising is if these brand new top of the line fighters don't come with digital assistants that can supplement the skill of a pilot to make them near parity to superior pilots. Kind of like how fly by wire came around before. Still bet there's much to learn from having this fighter.

What kind of HMS/D did the Su35 come with? It would be very difficult for pilots to make the most of any hints in WVR combat without HMD.

With the contract for 24 Su-35S, does China get access to hundreds of spare AL-41F1S engines for J-20?

So purchasing the Su-35S airframe and weapons suite was the price to pay to buy the actual engines itself?

But is China limited to just 42 AL-41F1S engines (2 for each Su-35S) or can China buy hundreds to equip J-20 squadrones rolling off the assembly line?

Or is China's intent to have a limited supply of AL-41F1S to investigate and reverse engineer for WS-15 engine?

I don't really get why China bothered with Su-35S unless it gave unlimited access to AL-41F1S engines for J-20.

I don't see China would fit AL-41 onto J-20. WS-15 is the way to go, China is in no hurry, better to make sure WS-15 is mature and then installed on J-20 in 2020/2021

BTW existing J-20 with WS-10x engine is good enough for China .... of course it could be better ... but China can wait for a few more years

The purchase of SU-35 was a big mystery to me as well, a lot of theories around .. but personally I believe SU-35 is the best non 5th gen fighter around and perhaps China didn't want to expose their best fighters in the hot spots (something of Sun Tzu saying to hide your true strength ...) .. so SU-35 is used for that purpose .. as you can see now that SU-35 is used in some hot spots
