Chinese purchase of Su-35

I fail to see how they can be used in any other way. 24 aircraft is a joke for combat purposes. CAC and SAC together already produce 3-4 times that many combat aircraft per year. OPFOR and research are the most viable roles for them. There was word previously that China only wanted 2 examples so it's more than likely they never intended to form combat units with Su-35s.
. You're quite rightly on to something, and if those SU-35s are everything B787 claims, they will likely build an indigenous version based on the J-11D and build 100 to 200 of those!

I still can't believe that such a deal only included the Su-35 aircraft.

There is no gap in the Chinese air force which would need to be filled with foreign aircraft - even if the Su-35 is better than the Chinese J-11 variants.

Oh yeah?
中央军委批准中国人民解放军唯一新闻门户网站
So is CCTV the official media outlet of PRC/CCP who is the boss of PLA, but that does not stop CCTV from making all kinds of report including some very unreliable news. Remember that the two admirals made some quite off-mark statements in CCTV talk shows? How authoritative are they? And now, over the sudden, this 81.cn becomes absolutely authoritative? More so than People's Daily and CCTV? Why?

I think based on what we have heard (Russian source, I forgot his name) and seen (blurred photos with Russian camo), it is equally right and wise for people to keep their doubt equal to your believing it.

There isn't really much to argue about the deal right now. But no need to challenge people with different views, let go of it. I do encourage you to remind the other doubters when you find some high quality Su-35 photos in PLAF color. And I am sure many people including myself will be glad to thank you for settling the whole saga once for all.

We don't know if China has paid for the full batch of 24aircraft ahead of time or if it is paying for the aircraft individually. Given previous history of agreements between China and Russia on natural gas pipelines that in the end didn't eventuate it wouldn't surprise me if China ends up buying only these four planes just to study them so that they can see if they can make their own aircraft better.

That could explain why China is not harping up the purchase of these engineering samples. Another reason is that they have their own brand to protect and if they hype the SU-35 like the russians and say its the best fighter on earth they will just lower the reputation of their own excellent fighters to being just second best.

This is all assuming though that Russia did deliver four fighters.

I seriously doubt that. Doing so would greatly antagonize the Russians and for what just to save a little over $1 billion? Completely not worth it.

Where does this figure of 24 fighters come from, the russian side or the chinese side? The Russians probably want to sell 24 fighters but has anyone seen the contract which says that the Chinese will buy 24 fighters?

Guys .. I close this thread again !

I'm not sure why there are again a few out there who still deny or question that deal and the delivery as well. Fact is: The PLAAF and other Chinese authorities want to keep it secret or at least on very low-profile and even we don't understand or like it, we simply have to accept is as a given fact.

The deal is done and at least four Su-35 are in China; fact !
For everything else we simply have to wait.
