Chinese purchase of Su-35

I think you are missing the point that many have been trying to convey. It's not about whether China already has a finished product. It's about China is making nice progress. And China has gained confidence that they can do this themselves. So they won't waste time and money to get something that they are confident that they will be able to make.

It's like you coming home and your wife is still cooking a fancy surf and turf dinner. The steaks are on the grill, salad is in the bowl, baked potato is in the oven and lobsters are in the pot. However, nothing is on the table yet. So what would you do? Patiently wait for your wife to finish everything and enjoy a nice fancy dinner? Pick up the phone and call a pizza delivery while completely humiliating and embarrassing your wife?

This is exactly what everyone has been saying. Not that China has gotten a polished engine. But that China has something very promising cooking in their oven. The Chinese govnt has confidence in their engineers. And also, they respect their engineers. And we should too.
show me the engine flying now, Su-35 is the hottest Flanker flying now

Have you actually read what I wrote before quoting me?

My question to you: what would you do when you come home and your wife is still in the middle of cooking dinner? Would you wait for your wife to finish? Would you immediately pick up the phone and call pizza delivery when you see no food on the table? Or would you keep asking "show me the dinner on the table NOW! Otherwise, I won't believe that you are cooking!"

China is making good progress on their fighters engines. WS-10 is flying smoothly. I think there are 400-500 copies currently flying. They are confident that they can make more advanced engines. That fact they are not in any hurry buying any foreign engines suggests that this is indeed the case.

Show me how many Su-35's are currently flying since its design was finalized. Why aren't people flocking to it if it is such the hottest thing in town? Chinese should be begging to buy it??? How many years have the Russians been trying to sell it to the Chinese? Why aren't the Indians buying it? They got involved in the T-50 and they bought Su-30. Why not Su-35? That same poor Su-35 flies from airshows to airshows for how many years now? Made any sales yet? Why do the Russians keep bragging about the "sale of the Su-35 to China"? Shouldn't it be the Chinese who cannot contain their excitement for finally being able to get their hands on the precious Su-35?

Ever heard of that saying "a good product sells itself". Yet, it's not selling no matter how many "Cobra's" the Su-35 flips in the sky...

Which begs the question, what's the real reason China purchased 24 Su-35s? Will the final number actually be 24? What else is China getting, other than the off-the-shelf fighters?

To be honest, I'm still not convinced that the sale will actually happen... Let's wait and see, I guess...

If it actually happens, I bet there is other stuff going on. China must have milked much stuff out of this deal. We might begin to see giant bunnies running around in China...

But wouldn't it be better and easier if they could simply make more J-11B's? They now also have J-10A/B's. These would be more than capable to take the old Su-27's place.

It was quite evident, from Internet buzz, that SAC has maxed out its capacity. The J-11B, the closest in-service analogue to the Su-35, is out of production, and neither the J-16 nor J-15S reciprocate the roles of the Su-35.
