Interesting that Bangladesh got two patrol crafts and now 2+ 2 corvettes in last few years

If Argentina gets a 3 or more of these corvettes then they could break into the Latin America market and sign further contracts with Chile and Uruguay

That is on top of recent delivered to Nigeria, Algeria, Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Ghana and Namibia just to name a few

We shall see.

The question is what can Argentina afford...and how can they afford it?

They were unable to maintain the old designs they had and they have slipped into disrepair...one of the DDGs actually sinking at the pier.

We shall just have to wait and see what is announced.

Good point Jeff. But the funny thing is that the nation is sitting on a pile of cash (and gold) but they have been tight with the purse strings. I guess the politicians are trying to keep if for themselves. The main problem is the political will to buy anything for the military. Cristina K has a loathing for the military as do a fair majority of the civilian population due to the dirty war and the Falkland/Malvinas fiasco.

The military has been very good the last two decades and most of the bad officers have been removed or retired. The current military is more professional than in the 1970s and 1980s. However the population’s attitude remains somewhat negative.

Joshuatrees comment about payment “via commodities and/or port access on the back end, soft loans on the front.” may indeed be the fact, together with certain mineral and extraction rights. That way the politicians are not seen as “giving money to the military”

It all basically come down to the deal agreed to in a smoke filed back room.

Back to bottling and exporting to pay the debt

As a foot note the DDG that sank at port was the other type 42 which was used as a source of spare parts for the remaining active type 42. She was about to be towed to be placed in a permanent exhibit/museum to the South Atlantic War at the Naval base. Ironic that she sunk.
