Chinese infantry fighting vehicles

Lieutenant General
Interesting that there are view ports on the side of the vehicle, but no firing ports for the mounted infantry. This could be a clue that it is not an IFV?

Viewports so that the infantry can yell out...."RPG!" to the driver and commander.:p;)

High-resolution photo of the new IFV that surfaced a few months ago. I was hoping to see it at Zhuhai, but it was a no-show. I wonder if it's is intended for export. Anyway, the troop compartment looks to be significantly roomier, judging by the vehicle's proportions. The Chinese are taller and bigger these days, and the current ZBD09 8x8 always struck me as stingy in the the space department.

Yet another new remote weapons station on top, and this baby is fully amphibious.

You posted pictures of another vehicle for export at Zhuhai with a similar turret:

it's also got the same style of Wake break and the windows are in the same place although there are more. and both have the slat armor over the head lights.

I think I have a theory about the "Can" on top of the turret. It might be a laser detector for Laser simulation gear.

Sorry lads, but this just looks like an updated version of the EE-11 Urutu to me.

*sigh...

Just because both have three unequally-distributed wheels on each side does not imply an engineering relationship between the two, not to mention that there are clear differences between the designs of the two vehicular frames.

Another example of a similar looking vehicle would be the ZFB08.

There is a strong resemblance but I am with Sino on this. I could point to a North Korean APC and the South African Ratel IFV that have the same configuration.

I'm sure it is improved and probable has superior ballistic protection than the EE-11. However, imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery, or in this case the a confirmation of a good design.

PS: the doors are similar also..:D

I am Assured that the American M8 Greyhound is incapable of Blushing. :p

This Chinese Vehicle is likely aimed for Export and given the Wake Break it's probably Amphibious. What I want to know is Does it have a rear hatch as well or are those doors which are considered a poor choice for a IFV and APC the only way in and out.

Tushay TerraN!

Hopefully it has a rear ramp. However, considering it is intended as an export vehicle to 3rd World nation I would suspect that it has hatches.

A ramp facilitates not only the quick loading and unloading of personnel, but also loading of material and equipment into the vehicle and takes advantage of its volume.

thats half of it. the other reason is the protection. IFV's and APC's are built like any other armored vehicle with the max armor to the front and thinner on the sides, rear, top and bottom. a rear ramp puts the vehicles best protection between the infantry and the incoming fire. side doors only offer a thin small hatch for cover.
