Introducing Alan Dalwa Dolma. She went to Japan but found no success I heard She back in Mainland now.Who could forget her duet with Han Hong another half Tibetan Half Han. She is general in PLA but I heard recently she left the army and become executive of entertainment company That show Tibetan is now participating in Chinese prosperity.
She is a stunner

PLA entertainers hold civilian ranks similar to those of generals. Peng Liyuan, Xi's wife, holds the equivalent of a major general rank in the PLA. So probably no mistake ...

Not Alan the skinny girl but the fat girl Han Hong yes it is she and she hold high rank in PLA But she left the army to become executive in entertainment company

Is it not insulting to the actual generals of the PLA who bled and sweat to climb the ranks earning the honor of leading China's armed forces that some singers and entertainers can be called generals too??
Yeah, it's kinda perplexing. But seems like the goverment places their contribution in "generating morale" to be some kind of a "force multiplier"? I think their General rank does come with an asterisk*(?), in that they are not combat generals. Haha, what am I talking about! Anyway, interesting none the less.
Maybe if they assign such ranks to behind-the-scenes crew they will get better CGI and better footage edits that are not sped up!

It is understood that the title of "General" is honorary one . the practice of embedding entertainer in the army is peculiar to PLA
But the root goes back a long way to Yanan period when hundred of Shanghai entertainer join the PLA to act as moral booster for the army. Jiang Qing Mao's wife was one of them
PLA employ large contingent of entertainer in their rank that is why the titile general as administrative head of the troupe was given
And you are right in modern army there is no place for entertainer that is why they are disbanded in the recent reform
Worst still they become source of corruption and can easily misuse. Imagine sweet young thing among bored middle age men. It is corrosive environment encouraging the practice of mistresses.
One actually happen She was pretty thing sent to US to study and become mistress to one of the general and gain aces to inner secret of PLA. She latter was found guilt of espionage and sentence to long term prison
