Relative to each other, they're high or low bypass. But you are correct, high bypass turbofans refers specifically to airlifter / passenger turbofans that emphasize efficiency over other factors.

Basically, no, that's not WS-15 footage, nor any Chinese engine. It's footage of AL-31 testing.

thanks. That's why I'm always vigilant against photos and videos of bits and pieces that can easily be attributed to other platforms, like engines (which isn't even Chinese), or helmets (which in this case is a freaking fan made CGI)

To be fair this is phoenix tv, which tends to be less accurate than actual Chinese state tv
