Peng, who was in Panama City accompanying Xi for a state visit to the Central American country, made the appeal in a meeting with Panamanian First Lady Lorena Castillo Garcia.
The Chinese government attaches great importance to AIDS prevention and treatment and to care of AIDS patients, and has made tremendous efforts and important achievements in those aspects, said Peng, who is also a World Health Organization goodwill ambassador for tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.
The Chinese side, she added, highly appreciates the enormous work Panama has done in those fields.
Meanwhile, Peng, also a UNESCO special envoy for the advancement of girls' and women's education, said China always pays high attention to women and children affairs, and strives to improve the health and education of women and children.
She suggested that the two sides join hands to make greater contribution to elevating the well-being of women and children not only in the two countries but also across the whole world.
Castillo, who is a special ambassador for UNAIDS in Latin America, spoke highly of China's achievements in AIDS prevention and treatment, as well as in the protection of women's and children's rights.
The Panamanian first lady expressed her willingness to work with the Chinese side to push for more progress in those areas.
After the meeting, Peng and Castillo posed for photos holding colorful paper butterflies -- which symbolize the Zero Discrimination campaign -- to show their solid support for the global cause against AIDS.
Peng gave a thumbs-up to Castillo's active participation in AIDS prevention, stressing that China and Panama share common aspirations in eliminating HIV/AIDS.
She expressed her hope that the two countries will inject fresh vigor into bilateral cooperation and make unremitting efforts to help realize the UNAIDS-proposed goal of ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030.

The construction of the first Arctic condensate tanker has come to an end at a shipyard in South China's Guangdong province, and the tanker will soon be handed over to its Greek owner.
Guangzhou Shipyard International Co Ltd held a naming ceremony for the icebreaking Arc7 ice class vessel with a payload of 44,500 tons on Tuesday, and the tanker was named BORIS SOKOLOV.
Zhou Xuhui, deputy general manager of the shipyard, said the vessel is propelled by pod propulsion system, double acting and can work under the circumstances of 50 C, which makes it unique in the worldwide.
In the past, vessels would work in summer to transport the condensate oil in Arctic area, while the new vessel will continue the transportation in winter, Zhou said.
At both ends of the vessel, there are icebreaking tools that can break the 1.8-meter thick ice layer, and even the ice ridge less than 15 meters, allowing the vessel to move at two knots.
The tanker has no rudder but at the stern, there are two pod propellers that can revolve 360 degrees to control it to move forward or backward.

As the descendant of Huo Yuanjia, one of China's most revered martial arts masters, Huo Jinghong, 41, started practicing martial arts at the age of 5. After her graduation from the Wushu School of Beijing Sport University in major of Wushu Routine, Huo started her career as a gym teacher of Tianjin University of Commerce in the year of 2000.
As a gym teacher, Huo teaches martial arts for the university team and offers classes on health Qigong, a new form selected from different versions of traditional Qigong for modern fitness, in the university. Later in 2015, Huo became the inheritor of Huo-style boxing, which was listed as an intangible cultural heritage in Tianjin, and since then, she has devoted herself to the inheritance and development of the martial arts handed down from the older generation of Huo's family.
She hoped that the Huo-style boxing would help people understand more about the Chinese martial arts. Huo Yuanjia was born in Tianjin in 1868. He founded the Chin Woo Athletic Association in 1910 in Shanghai and advocated the spirit of "patriotism, self-cultivation, justice, and helpfulness", which remain among the key tenets of martial arts today. Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region has officially opened its first global geopark, turning an abandoned mine in Keketuohai into a sustainable tourism destination that will improve local living standards.

Located south of the Altay Mountains and at the base of the Irtysh River, the park is the first global geopark in Xinjiang and covers more than 2,300 square kilometers. Visitors will be able to enjoy breathtaking views including the Irtysh Grand Canyon, a huge mine crater, lakes, mountains, a waterfall, fossils and rivers.
UNESCO announced eight new global geoparks, including Keketuohai, last May.
"The geopark, characterized by a large mining area and geological relics of great significance, is expected to increase local incomes and drive sustainable development of the local economy through its precious geological landscape and rare mine site," park official Jin Xiaochi said at the opening ceremony.
