The annual Taobao Maker Festival, gathering more than 200 Taobao shops with fun and creative designer products, kicked off by scenic West Lake in Hangzhou on Thursday and will run through the weekend.
From a paper lantern valued at 80,000 yuan to giant exoskeleton-style robots, from roasted chicken wing-shaped cushions to balloons with various kinds of shapes and styles, the festival amuses visitors with unusual, wonderful ideas made real by Taobao shopkeepers.

A huge basket-shaped flower arrangement with the theme "Blessings to China" will be installed in Tian'anmen Square as part of the decoration plan drawn up for the square and Chang'an Avenue for the National Day holiday on Oct 1.
The Beijing Gardening and Greening Bureau unveiled the plan on Friday, saying it used high-technology applications such as 3D modeling to design the flower beds.
Besides the main basket, 10 additional flower terraces bearing different good wishes to the country will be displayed along Chang'an Avenue. There will be 2 million flowers used in the basket and 10 terraces.
Construction work began on Friday and is expected to be finished by Sept 23.

Super typhoon Mangkhut which is expected to hit Guangdong's coastal area on Sunday afternoon, wreaked havoc in the southern province on Sunday.
According to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, one of the major aviation hubs in China, has cancelled all flights from 12:00 o'clock Sunday to 8:00 am Monday, affecting thousands of passengers.
