Their length look the same to me.

(I'd like to apologize in advance for my crude usage of MS Paint)

If you look closely, you can see that the slight change of angle that would indicate where the wedge starts on the 96A occurs a bit further ahead. On top of that, when compared with the shape of the 682 composite armour module, the proportions are also different.

Given my current knowledge on composite armour, this means that the 96B is either using 682 composite armour and has been fitted with a wedge that has a greater standoff distance, or the 96B is using a different type of composite armour that has a higher LOS thickness.

That would be the new ZTQ light tank which had been spotted in Tibet
at 35-38 tons this is definitely not Type-96 nor VT-5. it's a new tank and this tank is optimized for mountainous operation with high-elevated gun. However, 105mm main gun is a bit too weak, isn't it?

But at 35 Ton that is the maximum gun load that the tank body can take. Bigger gun will stress out the chassis of the tank
The tank need to be light to cross over mountain bridges and steep road
I don't think 55 ton tank can negotiate a steep mountain road or bridges
Here is the ZTQ

A 105mm tank gun it maybe but it is most probably derived from the proven British designed L7 rifiled tank gun which had been proven to be able to easily take out a T72.

Actually no. 120mm guns have been fitted to vehicles lighter than 30 tons The M8 Thunderbolt 120 Demonstrator which was built as a proof of concept for the aborted FCS MCS and weighed 25 Metric tons and used a 120mm smooth bore. The Russian 2S25 Sprut-SD mounts a 125mm smooth bore and is 18 metric tons, The CV90120-T is 26 tons. to compensate for these heavy guns they designed recoil reduction systems.

It is proof of concept then I see a lot of it. Even marine LAV was fitted with 105mm gun once But it cracked the body So they cancelled that variant in 1970

I don't know about CV90120
