Can you elaborate on how the T-90, which is in itself an upgraded T-72, can be "one or two generations" ahead of the Type 99A?

I wonder if we would have seen the M1 Abrams and Leopard 2 on last years biathlon, pitted against the T-90, if Russia and he west weren't engaging in a mini cold-war.

And btw, the best tank suited for this biathlon is the Japanese type 10, with it's excellent mobility and firepower, it would win hands down.

I don't know about that ... do you really think T-90 is a generation or two ahead of Chinese Type 99A2 ?

And Armata? .. I don't think Russia would send those didn't you watch the video of Armata during the parade ?

That Armata didn't break down. Brakes were applied by the driver, It continued on 15 minutes later. They just didn't show it on the videos posted online

After speculation of my self and many other experienced ones who keep following army tech development. Many of us has made a conclusion that T-14 we see on the parade is NOT a next generation tank. At least not before they complete it. It has the potential to perform considerable better than any other platform on wheels or tracks in urban combat which is the trend of the 21st century war. However most have agreed that T-14 do not have much improvement compared to T-90 or even worse than T-90 when facing enemy armored formation a.k.a. a same tier opponent.

Everything above is under the assumption that APS of T-14 will works as expected and that is something we don't know. For now the armata is still a WIP and we will see in time if this beast can lead the revolution in tank design but definitely not now.

With land warfare systems I think the definition of a 'next generation' is harder to define and vague unlike say aircraft.
Thanks for the most part are more evolutionary process I think unless someone starts putting laser or railguns on them.

So you are saying that after several weeks of training the driver didn't know how to use brakes? I don't buy that.
