Chinese 96-A

This is the Chinese 96-A Thread.

It is not the T-72 Thread, the M1A1 Thread, the T-90 Thread, etc., etc.

We have a separate Modern Main Battle Tank thread. Going on in off topic discussion is against SD rules of behavior.

SD is also not a place for unending, back and forth arguments.

We call those meaningless arguments here because each side is so sure that they are right that it is like two brick walls arguing with one another...ergo, meaningless. Such arguments are specifically against the rules here.

it is also against the SD Rules of Behavior to throw around the types of insults and profanity being used.

I am deleting all of the Off Topic Posts (and there are a LOT of them...like five pages worth), and I am warning Black Shark and Narangd for their meaningless arguments.,.

You are both new here. SD has a good reputation and prides itself on being professional. We intend to keep it that way.

Both of you...READ THE RULES and abide by them.

Any more of this will lead to first suspensions, and then banning.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MODERATION

It is very curious why they have what looks like the "skeleton" of a cupola shield on top of the turret, what is it and what is it for?

Armour plating to give the gunner some protection against enemy small arms fire. Its what US forces have been jury rigging in Iraq and Afghanistan on their Humvees.

I know that, if it is indeed an unfinished cupola shield. Just wondering if it could be something else. The only time I have ever seen a cupola shield on a Chinese tank is an old photo of a Type 62 light tank a long time ago.

4 Type 96s have been transported to Russia for the 2016 tank bilathon of the International Army Games and will compete with teams from 14 other countries. The PLA is also deploying PLL-05 howitzers, which will compete in the “Masters of artillery fire” competition, additionally 4 unnamed IFVs and other equipment. Chinese Su-30MKK fighters will also attend Avaidarts in August.
