I have said before that if China placed the Y20 in the export market it would be bought up like hot cakes. Perhaps not by the US or Russia, but middle Eastern states, African nations, smaller European countries South American nations, a few Neighbors in Asia Would be bidding for a few here and there.

I think that exporting Y-20 will have to wait for the adoption of WS-20. Right now, its engines power is insufficient. Also they are made in russia.

China's Y-20 heavy transport aircraft has undergone its first airborne and air delivery training, said the Chinese air force on Tuesday. According to Shen Jinke, spokesperson of the air force, it marked a leap in the air force's strategic delivery and long-distance airborne combat abilities. The air force is a strategic service, and its strategic capability should be in line with the constantly expanding national interests so it can carry out diverse military missions, said Shen. The strategic capability of the air force should be able to extend wherever China's national interests reach to provide reliable air security assurance for the country's development, he added. The Y-20, which joined the People's Liberation Army Air Force in July 2016 and has a maximum takeoff weight of around 200 tonnes, is ideal for transporting cargo and people over long distances in diverse weather conditions.

I see 07 from the video stream. Is that mean they already have more than 6 already in service?

Definitely more than dozen built maybe just under 10 in operation although 7 is the highest

Put it this way India paid over $5 billion for 10 C17 globemasters and snapped up the last unit for $375 million last year

All that money went to US, look at China all that money is staying within its country these are the ingredients of a superpower

Well done !

To be fair, alot of things are not just as simple as that which you describe. R&D costs, the ease of foreign technology transfer and the lack of a strong domestic market sometimes mean that it would be much simpler and cheaper to buy things from other rather than to just make it oneself. China's situation is different as they don't have much choice to begin with.

Both country’s have a huge appetite for cargo plane it’s not like its Israel we are talking about India here

They wanted to add 16 x C17 but the production closed and they managed to get just that extra 1 white unit

For India it’s more about capability to build than finance

It only took them 40 years to build the helicopter a large cargo would be more like 400 years for them
