China's SCS Strategy Thread

There was a blood bath in Spratly Islands. I thought that all of the users knew what I meant with 'Shoot 'em all!' in my earlier post but I was wrong. Here's a link for the start:

Maybe it slipped down in your memory. Whatever.
Yes it did.

For me it could be closed area without any inhibitants or commercial activities around for now. Just like Japanese did with Senkaku. But I know it can't happen unfortunately...
I didn't ask for what state it should be in. Uninhabited, inhabited, I don't care.

I asked who should own it. Answer that.

And then answer this: "Why?" As a continuation of the previous question.

Don't feed the troll. They are just seeking attention and a place to start a flame war. Reality and logic does not apply.

Australia should pay close attention to Indonesia's increasing Islamist climate, because what goes on in Indonesia affects Australia far, far, far more than the South China Sea. I say that because, absent war, China has no interest closing trade passage in SCS, while should Indonesia become far more Islamist, they might look south to Australia as a soft and juicy target.

Fully agreed. Indonesia is existential threat to Australia. They have made a grave error by allowing the javans to take over Eastern Indonesia and Western New Guinea.

Well I am surprised nobody talked about Trump just sent an Aegis ship WITHIN 12 Miles of Mischief. All that talk about Trump being friendlier than Obama just all went out the door now. LOL!

US policy in SCS will not change. Its "same shit different toilet".

I am very curious, when the tables are turned, would US ever allow PLAN CVBGs or warships doing regular FONOP near US mainland? What do the americans here feel about that?

I'm reminded of the Hunt for Red October, when the Soviets sent a fleet off the Eastern seaboard of the USA.

Publicly nothing was announced, but the US Navy and Air Force harassed the heck out of that Soviet fleet.

I'm asking this not for his benefit; he's so absorbed into Sinophobia that it's far too late to drag him back to objectivity. I'm asking this so members of this forum as well as the thousands of lurkers who don't register and simply read, can see exactly what merits, or lack thereof, his "arguments" (more like rants) have.

Who actually argues these days to convince the other guy? It's all about arguing logically without resorting to fallacies so that the audience is swayed by rationality. I couldn't care less what Janiz thinks after this exchange, I only care that others reading this forum don't get the false impression that we ridicule him out of sheer malice instead of the actual reason, which is he makes crappy arguments and is worse than a politician at comprehending questions.

No they wouldn't. They would sink the PLAN ships or threaten nuclear annhilation on China if Coldwar was any indication. Remember that little incident called The Cuban Missile Crisis?
That's just silly and doesn't match previous US actions when foreign powers sail their ships near US coasts. The Soviets used to sail regularly up and down US East Coast and other than gross alarmist news articles from the lame stream media and cries from overreacting politicians, nothing happened. PLAN also sailed ships close to US coasts, and nothing happened.

The latest FONOP, first under Trump, was done in a low key way which is how it's typically done unlike the highly publicized ones during the later years under Obama. And note Trump's submarines mention during his call with Duterte. If planned it's a subtle yet effective show of force strategy by the US to China that also plays to the US' advantage propaganda-wise.

Here's an article that includes the response from China:

Agreed, and it shows Trump wants to both assert international law, as well as partnering with China to manage affairs in other areas. USS Dewey FON was legal and understated. A good mission by the men and women of the USN.

Ok, I'm gonna try the Socratic method.

1. Who do you think should own the SCS islands?

2. Why?
Answers: China owns all the islands and features in the SCS. Full stop. Why? Because of historical presence as 'first civilization on scene' and continuous claims of Chinese sovereignty, even when it was too weak to enforce its claims. Bonus answer: who gives a flying F? China does, and that makes all the difference under the heaven.
