China's SCS Strategy Thread

And don't forget the latest one: former FBI director James Comey. There will be more to come.

I think you misunderstood me. :)

I'm saying that China should ask Trump to fire all the incompetent people in the US military, so that the US media can get all indignant about it, and senators like McCain can jump in to defend those people, thus ensuring that they get to keep their jobs forever.

Sorry, but right now he's quite busy. He's getting grilled by the media at this time for you know what.

Tension between Vietnam and China what tension via Xinhui Blog

HO CHI MINH CITY, May 6 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese naval fleet on Saturday arrived at Ho Chi Minh City in south Vietnam for a four-day friendly visit to the Southeast Asian country.

At 10:00 am (0300 GMT), two Chinese naval ships, missile destroyer Changchun and missile frigate Jingzhou, docked at the Saigon Port in Ho Chi Minh City, and were warmly received at a welcome ceremony held by the Vietnamese navy.

After the ceremony, representatives of Vietnamese navy, Chinese embassy and consulate in Vietnam, Chinese enterprises, Chinese students studying in Vietnam and overseas Chinese in Vietnam visited the Changchun missile destroyer.

Commander of the Chinese navy fleet Shen Hao is expected to meet Vietnamese military and civilian officials. The two sides will hold a series of activities including receptions on the deck, cultural and sports competitions.

Missile frigate Jingzhou will be open to overseas Chinese in local communities, Vietnamese naval officers and soldiers.

Here's a good object lesson China's real enemy is Japan and not the United States, and it will take every opportunity to sabotage friendly Sino-American relations. The SCS is an easy target, because it's a key node for US to maintain primacy and for China to push back.

Several days ago, a Kyodo news published a story claiming Chinese Ambassador to the US, Cui Tiankai asked for dismissal of Admiral Harris, head of US Pacific Command, from his post. China soon denounced the story as false and said Kyodo fabricated the story. Given likely US response to such a demand, it's hard to believe China would conduct diplomatic affairs in such a manner. Therefore, Kyodo's story is most likely false.

It shouldn't be surprising lots of Western "journalists" reflexively swallow anti-PRC propaganda whole, without doing much due diligence on validity of the stories. It's the nature of the beast; those people live in kumbaya echo chambers. Problem is they cause trouble for China in Washington, and distract it from paying attention to its real enemy- Japan.

Exactly true .. Japan is the real enemy, not the US. The US has been helping the world in peace for over 70 years .. everybody benefiting it, including China and Japan.

Remember who attacked and destroyed Pearl Harbour? who attacked China? who did mass genocide and rape in Nanking and Korea, who did massacre in the Philippine? .. etc, etc countless facts and the Japanese still deny all of them

If Xinhua wrote that there was no pressure from embassy that must be true...

if it is from Japanese medias or Japanese textbooks .. don't believe it .. most likely a lie ;)

what most likely happened is the Japanese so scared that Trump may "fire" the admiral (who is ethnically Japanese) .... so they made up a story so .. if Trump did fire him they can say "see, what I told you, it was due to the Chinese pressure"

No surprise of that tactic from the Japanese :p extremely low tactic .. but normal by them

How would it soften the blow if the Japanese population were made to believe their greatest bête noire could influence the selection of the commander for the most relevant force of their greatest ally?

Sometimes one's tendency to always see thinks from one's own perspective can benefit even from the most minimal and superficial pretense of reality check.

I doubt Kyodo is mainstream Japanese media, because reasonable people would think it's counterproductive for China's ambassador to demand change to US command personnel. But, I'm ready to be persuaded the story was planted by the US Navy dirty tricks department, just show me some creditable evidence.

I don't believe Japan is an enemy, anymore than the US is an enemy, to China.

However, while I do believe the US is a rival and competitor, I do not consider Japan to be a peer.

Japan does not have its own foreign policy. It is a extension of the US. What the US wants, Japan does. Therefore, it would be a mistake to focus on Japan.
