I found this on another forum, a very small RPG with little range but relatively good power and compact. Should be able to KO most APCs and some IFVs, I think. A very good urban bazooka IMO.

    An article about it:
(A bit busy, sorry, no time to translate.)

A small handheld rocket. at 50m against 100mm target at 55-60 degrees with 95% penatration probability. Good for guerilla warfares. etc...

They say in the artile the three "treasure" of the infantry are satchel charges, banglore, and anti-tank hand grenade. That would suggest this article was written quite a while ago.

I think this used more as a reassurance weapon as a last resort than anything else. It is definately good for urban warfare guerilla warfare, anti-personnel and maybe machinegun enplacement, but not much good for anythig else.

I am wondering, is this a one time use disposible weapon or is it reloadable? According to the crude firing mechnism and mechanical aiming apparatus, this might be use and toss type.

This is item is on www.sinodefence.com

It seems like the PLA is going mini in everything - there's the mini-mortar, mini-artillery (grenade launcher), and now this mini-rocket launcher (RPG). They are good for paratroopers, and also when fighting guerrilla warefare, and maybe against terrorism.

The tube can be reloaded, but in the heat of battle, they can be discarded. Sinodefence should have an article on this, but it doesn't at the moment.

well I can only imagine how freaky thing that can be when actually shooting. With LAW type of weapon, you really got taken by the blast and you need serious practice to hit anything with it (and then you can use your both hands, shoulder and take prone position atleast)....to do the same with single handed
I wonder would it have anything other use, exept for the really brave men that have balls to stand that near to an enemy tank that you simply cannot miss anymore.....

I suspect that this article is quite old. It talks about demonstrating this weapon to a Chinese general, Ye Jianying (http://news.xinhuanet.com/ziliao/2003-01/17/content_694379.htm in Chinese), who died in 1986 already.

The article claims that this RPG can penetrate the armor of T-34 in all directions and the armor of T-72 in all but the front direction.

Errr........... Well, at least it is interesting.

The picture of the 1st soldier says that this project is not fully dead however, the uniform look rather new, Category-B, ish

Although I find the way of firing it weird. Is it not possible to hold it like an AT-4???

This thing is useless in the frontier all right, but it should be very effective in urban warfare.

Sorry, I did not say it is not interesting...

Printed on the RPG are the following words:

    Hand-held armor penetrating rocket

Black 95 (what is that  )

    and some number

Even to anovice like me it seems unwieldy and impractical. I would have thought there would be no accuracy in firing an RPG at an arms lenght. Is there any future for a device like this?
