It must be clearly stated Islam is a believe system with some violence in it, while Muslims are people that follow various forms of that believe system, and are mostly peaceful. Islamist, on the other hand, are extremists who use the Islamic religion for their own political ends, so whether you like to hear it or not, it does involve religion, even if it's the corruption of it.

Replace the Islam with Christianity or any religion out there and you get the same picture...even today.
