It looks like operation "retaking the motherland" looks dimmer every year for the Taiwan regime.

Don't write off Taiwan just yet. I fully expect Mainland to have some kind of democratic-meritocracy in about 50 years, and Taiwan could gain political victory by influencing the outcome.

Taiwan might have had a slight chance 25 years ago, but now it's in a slow-motion self-destructive mode. No one in mainland is looking up to Taiwan's political model and system. If anything, it serves as a negative example.

I totally agree, this will be a turning point in PLAN history. this should be the real deal because I saw foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying's response to a question asked about this ''Djiouti base'' and the way how she didn't deny this news, makes this very credible.

they might play around with words and not call it a military base, (call it something really pedestrian like "maritime logistics support center'') but a spade is a spade.
