All Sino-Flankers, all equipped with Taihangs, and all images are high-resolution. Happy 70th birthday to the Chinese air force!

Right, a couple of interesting videos.

I know it’s only a game, but the realism of it is impressive, and there have been real ex-USN hornet pilots who have tried it and said it was scarily close to the real thing.

Given that the performance parameters of the fighters involved are fairly well known at this point, I think it should give reasonably accurate reflections of real world performance.

First one is the only instance I have ever seen where a cobra was applied in a dogfight.

The second is a more realistic no-holds barred combat where the player make six kills with a J11A against US fighters of the same era.

Entertainment value aside, the second video is also a really great practical illustration of how limited even modern radar scan fields can be, and how easy it is to dodge missiles fired at ranges even a fraction of the advertised max range.

The developers of DCS are Russian do you know that? They have to be applauded for taking extremes to perfect their art in providing the most realistic flight simulation possible. One even tried to procure F-16 technical manuals in Ebay and got arrested by the FBI for it.
