7th Brigade have do transition from J-7E/G/JJ-7 remains at less dépends J-10 Rgts number... 23 J-7 Rgts on 74 whose 3 Bombers about 580 birds on 2050 fighters bombers i have, USAF very very close to 2100 ! Russians more far 1250.

4 birds identified to Huitong

It was speculated that 01 batch of J-16 fighter bomber entered the service with PLAAF in 2015. Dozens have been produced by 2017. J-16 is expected to replace the old Q-5 and eventually Su-30MKK/MK2.

Yes for sure ... first You have to differ between numbers for Divisions/Regiments and for Brigades.

Divisions can be identified by the first and fourth digit of the five-digit serial minus 11 and so You get the Division's number:

For example Su-30MKK 20694:

29 - 11 = 18 ... so this is from the 18th Division
For the Regiments usually the second, thirst and fifth digit are important since the first Regiment within a Division has numbers within the range of 001-050, the second one 051-099 and the third one has 101-150. So this Su-30MKK with 064 is from the second Regiment within the 18th Division, which is the 53rd.

Brigades usually have higher numbers and can be identified by the first, second and fourth digit of their five-digit serial minus 611 and so You get the Brigades' number, which is usually the former Regiment's number:

For example Su-30MKK 78033:

783 - 611 = 172 ... so this is from the 172nd Brigade

Hope this helped a bit.

thanks a lot.
I knew the division and regiment number.
Someone told me about the 611 for brigade number and I always thought he was fooling me around.....

Nothing strange about j16 comign to a unit previously operating j7. Almost all su30, when they came to PLAAF, went to units previously operating j8 and j7.

Makes one wonder what q5 will be replaced with and when...
