That doesn't look like j11d. It has old wingtip launchers, and it pretty much looks like j11b, only with a different radome (different color and no pitot tube). Looks more like a test of j11b with a new radar?

Probably not an either/or question, but both. I could see scenarios where the J-11D+ are mass produced with copy-innovate Su-35 technology- even over muted Russian objections.

If it's true, then it could simply be another routine test flight. The latest articles are saying that the J-11D has not been canceled but rather delayed a few years due to engine issues.
