WOW, if the latest WS-10 engine has the same blue flame as the AL-31 series. Does this mean that 1 or 2 of the J-20 could also be using improved WS-10 engine ?

Nope, J-20's use of Al-31s are determined based on other things apart from the colour of engine flame. Engine nozzle, and engine internals are the main determinants that were used.

Thanks for the insight, AFB. If this engine is indeed more efficient than previous iterations of the WS-10, which spew out orange plumes, then it could be indicative that the J-16 uses quite a recent variant of the WS-10 (perhaps the rumored 140 kN version used on the J-11D).

very possibly my friend, and the all important fuel controller seems to have increased the fuel efficiency even in full burner?? very important, even if all it gives you in everyday life is reduced fuel flow, and marginally higher thrust, when you put the pedal to the metal, even another two minutes of AB could mean the difference between winning and loosing, and additional top end in dry thrust, supercruise would be a sweet benefit?

So the more efficient fuel controller means the hot section is prolly running much hotter than before, and this requires fan blades, housings, bearings, better lube in order to live in that hostile environment, as noted on the Indian thread on of the issues with the MK1s is that those birds have much lower TBO on their powerplants than similar Western aircraft??

I would first think of the turbine blades. :)

PLAAF Su-30MKK was photographed with the new Chinese KG600 Self-Protection Jamming Pod. In addition to its original Russian Sorbtsiya/Gardeniya ECM pods.

KG-600 first shown during the Zhuhai Airshow in 2014, it seems to be a successor of some sort to the KG-300G, which was exported to Pakistan along with the JF-17. On the other hand, as we can see, the KG-300G was still being offered at that time, termed to be a "smart jammer".

According to some, integration of this new pod proves one of the two:
1- China had access to Su-30MKK source code since day 1
2- Chinese Engineers managed to crack Su-30MKK source code

KG600 have also been spotted under JH-7A et H-6M.

it seems now this sys. is adopted as an standard ECM with Chinese fighters the same pod was on display with JF-17 in Paris Air-show 2015 ... as well ...

It was widely reported in the early 2000s that Chinese engineers cracked the source codes to all their important Flanker variants.
