Hmmm ... To admit that was what I've heard at first too ... however what Regiment then ??

Will they replace the Su-30MKK within the 9. Regiment ... or will they replace the J-7Es within the 7. Regiment also based at Wuhu ??

If there are already active units of J-16's then production must have started last year. The J-16's maiden flight was in october of 2012. It took only 2 years from first flight to production. A very short time span indeed.

Could it be - at least I hope so !!! - that the PLAAF is getting rid of its strange two-tone Flanker-radomes ???

Here is at least one 33. Division J-11A featuring a radome in the same colour as the fuselage ....
