China creates purple "space potato"

An article on Space.com claim that potatoes grown aboard Shenzhou 6 turned purple, creating a new kind of potato. Can anyone clarify this? I haven't heard of anyone else doing this in this in space.

hmm weird i thought we have purple potato in canada

not this purple. I've had Yukon Purple before.
