It almost looks like a 4000 ton cutter from this distance...

It'll be nice if it could one do do some joint exercises with other coast guards, or even navy. Would be nice to see an 052D, Legend class or burke next to it and see how they scale.

Quick and dirty...but close to scale:

Angle of the Legend is not quite right, she's a little longer in comparison than what this shows.

The Legend is like 418 ft long, I figure the 12K cutter to be 550 or longer.

What's the wish list for what a cutter like that may contain? Off the top of my head, a loadout of SAR helicopters, hangar to service same (present), davits for multiple launches and boats (present), a good weather radar and surface search radar (present), hold space for provisions and rescued refugees, holding cells for pirates and suspects, a small hospital, fire-fighting equipment, powerful comm suite, etc.

I'd add to that a good command/control capability and a capable ops room. Very long endurance with associated fuel, provisions, and comfortable and roomy crew facilities to allow for long duration patrols to be maintained.
Also, the ability to cooperate with military vessels in a limited way if the situations calls for it

Extra power generation capability and extra water desalinization capability. Comes in real handy for any humanitarian missions.

it would be great if they add a coast guard ship like this to the next anti piracy taskforce. so it would be two 054A, one replenishing ship plus CCG2901. a real anti piracy mission in the gulf of aden would be the best test for this ship and crew.

The next big CG vessels to be built should be some heavy duty ice breakers. Think China only has two at this point and both have been in service for quite some time now.
