People who want to see "water pipe transporters" will probably see more of them soon :)

The "Global Times" confirms the DF-41 is deployed and deployment should be accelerated.

China should “build more strategic nuclear arms and accelerate the deployment of the DF-41 intercontinental ballistic missile” to protect its interests, should Trump attempt to corner the country in an “unacceptable way”, it said.

I have always believe and said that ICBM is the true defence and deterrent.
The more you have the more your opponents will RESPECT YOU - look at how US treats China vs how they treat Russia. Russia has over 7300 nuclear warheads (down from 45,000) and the primary reason now Trump is friendly and conciliatory to Russia. Even at the height of the Crimean Crisis all US did was few harsh words and economic sanction. Can you imagine what they would do if China takes Taiwan?

All China did is marked out the extent of its power in South China sea, and US is now endlessly harassing and threatening China. Trump are now even saying he is doubting US should keep the "One China policy". Because US ABSOLUTELY do not fear China or any of its deterrent.

What China needs to do is to make as many ICBMs as it can and as quickly as possible, preferably something like 45,000 (like the USSR did) and make many times more decoys to absolutely overwhelms the US defence. Of Course the US will never allow China get that far - deuterium / tritium production and supply are highly restricted and China is probably on the blacklist for a long time.

Why would it matter that China is on some kind of blacklist? I was under the impression that China has its own production facilities.

"Blacklist"? ... plutonium, Tritium are not available in the market and under th etreaty nobody would sell them.

China would have no problem to produce thousands of warheads, enough material available and China produced/produce plutonium for very very long time

There seems to be another TEL without canister protrusion. 131224110262676.jpg Some say this is DF-31.

The other one with protrusion is for DF-41DF.jpg

The 1st one doesn't seem the have those hydraulic outrigger stabilizers installed. Probably a test-vehicle or a simple missile Transporter and not a Transporter Erector/Erector-Launcher. Size-wise, yes, it is likely a DF-31 (DF-31B?) transporter.

Or simply a good old water truck. Even better, and massive ice-cream truck :D

EDIT: Here is another

Without explicit military markings and without the associated side hydraulics and structures on a TEL I am a little bit cautious as to whether this is a military/missile TEL.

That said the proportions and shape of that particular launch tube does correspond quite close to DF-31/A.

OH! You hit the nail right on the head!
I concur it must be an ice cream truck. Those oversized waffle cones must be delivered in the most careful manner possible. See how the green tarp draped carefully over the whole truck? That's temperature control right there! So the waffle cones comes out all nice crispy and crunchy for the maximum flavour!

But the second "DF-41" (in my post) does not have the side hydraulic devices either? Both are for the same purpose?

Actually in you post # 1884, the photo of "DF-41" at the lower-left corner does not seem to have the feature either. And this DF-31? posted here already.

So far only the tracktor-trailer version of DF-31 and other smaller DF TELs have the side mounted dydraulic devices. Non of the latest DF-31/41 one-piece viechles (if not TEL) have the side mount hydraulics. I think the hydraulic erector is just under the missile.

So is it possibsile that China adopted something similar to the Russians TEL (below)? One thing to remember is that the hydraulic devices and their position and mounting mechanisms are determined together with the chassis of the vehicle. The Chinese 31/41 TELs are supposedly based on the Ukrainian design which is also the base of the Russian TELs. It won't surprise me if both Chinese and Russian TELs work in the same way.

I think a far better guide to see if the vehicle is a TEL and/or carrying missiles is to look at the surroundings.

In all the confirmed Chinese strategic missile photos, the roads are cleared of all other traffic except for the escorts.

Also, it a very rare for Chinese strategic missiles to go anywhere near major cities (double bad idea because of security risk and also making any major city the missiles are near/in targets for possible enemy nuclear alpha strike). The only exceptions I can think of are when strategic missiles are paraded through Beijing during national day parades.

But notice how there are no pictures of those missiles entering or leaving Beijing. That gives you an idea of how effective Chinese security measures are around these missiles.

So any photo where you have civilians anywhere in shot is a red flag for me that what is in the picture isn't military.
