I love this video, it puts into perspective regarding "international air space" that some members always harp on about, whether in the strait, ESC or SCS.

The commentator put it like two person in a dispute, and the aggresor keeps saying "I'm not touching you"
    "but you are very close"
    "I'm still not touching you"!
    Lol

International or no international space, the fact you are making someone nervous and uncomfortable shoud tell you to back off! We do that in our own personal lives, so it's no difference in state to state relations. Especially when the aggresor has form and bought down a civilian airliner in that area before!

Is the American testing the Iranian? I think they got their answer.
Imagine if the P-8 was hit instead, that would have mean war would be unavoidable.

Iran: We gave 'multiple warnings' before downing drone

The purported wreckage of the American drone is seen displayed by the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps in Tehran, Iran, June 21, 2019.

Iranian officials have made statements to reduce tensions following the downing of an American drone off Iran's southern coast.

As tensions escalate between Iran and the United States over an American drone downed in the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian political and military officials have made statements demonstrating they are not interested in escalating tensions.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) air force displayed June 21 pieces of the downed US drone it shot down in the Persian Gulf region. Iran claims the drone violated its airspace, but Washington disputes the claim. IRGC air force Cmdr. Amir Ali Hajizadeh walked around the debris displayed on the tables before giving a press conference to Iranian reporters.

Hajizadeh told reporters Iran had also spotted on June 20 a Boeing P-8 Poseidon plane with 35 people onboard along with the downed Global Hawk drone. According to Hajizadeh, “This plane had also violated our airspace and we could have targeted it, but we did not because our goal in shooting down the American drone was to give a warning.” Hajizadeh said that before striking the drone, they had issued a warning 10 minutes in advance. He also said the drone had violated international flight rules.

According to Hajizadeh, the drone took off from Abu Dhabi and passed through the Strait of Hormuz. Hajizadeh asked, “If we had done this across the beaches of Washington, what reaction would they have shown? Would they have allowed us to invade their privacy?”

P-8 Poseidon aircraft do not carry 35 people as stated by the above article. A crew of 7 would be normal. I'm intrigued as to how the Iranians could see into a windowless fuselage to begin with.

Could be a guess; could be a figure of speech; could be good old fashioned humint.

There are some interesting ‘co-incidences’ surrounding the recent escalation in tensions.

The US acting defence secretary suddenly and rather mysteriously resignes for ‘family reasons’; we have Iranians deciding to shoot down a drone with a P8 nearby at the time; we have Trump ordering a strike and then pulling back at the 11th hour.

All very unusual stuff, and makes me think there are a lot more going on behind the scenes that we don’t know about; and likely won’t find out in our lifetimes if ever.

Or maybe a government has better information than we / wiki about the configurations of these aircrafts.

My post is not based on anything Wikipedia may have to say on the subject.

I'll say it on the main board:

    if I were you, I'd be more careful about the Pentagon's stories under the circumstances;

just listen to Tucker Carlson since 02:58 in

    EDIT
while I'm no pacifist, I can see even conservative circles are now let's say astute

Trump repeated the 35 number himself, so ask your President.

Specifications of the indigenous Iranian SAM system (Third of Khordad) that shot down the RQ-4 drone that illegally entered Iranian airspace [believed a Taer-2C missile was used]:
