Mastiff Armoured Vehicles Transported to the UK from Afghanistan
An Army Mastiff armoured vehicle sits on the tarmac of Camp Bastion moments before being loaded onto an RAF C17 transport aircraft back to the UK in July 2014.The C17 was able to carry back two Mastiffs in its huge cargo hold as part of the drawdown of British troops and equipment from Afghanistan in late 2014.As part of the end of combat operations in Afghanistan the Army and Royal Air Force work alongside each other to transport two Mastiff armoured vehicles back to the UK on 16 July 14 from Camp Bastion. The Mastiffs are no longer required as British troops reduce the number of operations they are involved in and the number of troops on the ground. The closure of Camp Bastion will be complete by the end of 2014.

Beautiful, and unlike some of our other friends, our UK buddies will make this an enjoyable, high level training exercise, everybody will go away from this better equipped to deal the bad guys a nasty surprise, always nice to get to hang out with your real friends, let your hair down and go at it completely unguarded!

A pair of Royal Air Force Tornado GR4 aircraft performing a display at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.
The Tornado GR4 is a two-seat, all-weather, day/night attack and reconnaissance aircraft. It has been in service with the RAF for more than 30 years, but a combination of major upgrade programmes and numerous continual enhancements has kept the aircraft amongst the forefront of all attack aircraft.Still one of the very few aircraft in the world that is able to operate at low level, day or night and in poor weather, the Tornado is now equipped with a modern precision-guided weapons suite and world-class reconnaissance sensors such as the Reconnaissance Airborne Pod for Tornado (RAPTOR). The aircraft also carries the Litening III Advanced Targeting Pod, which is used in both attack and reconnaissance roles.The RAF has had Tornados deployed to the Middle East region for more than 20 years – further proof of the versatility and capability of this exceptional aircraft.
