Jura what are you trying to say?
My Romanian friends certainly doesn't feel like they are part of the west. Historically Romania has always been eastern Europe thus not "west". To the Americans, west ended in historical German, Austrian lands. So your Czech was west, but not Romania.

Poland is a new country, parts of it was russian or German before the restoration in 20th century. And certainly considered eastern Europe.

Same for Estonia. My wife's family on her father's side is from Latvia, and they were of Swedish and German decent. And they like to call Russia the motherland lol.

I was guessing I would hear it's like just run of the mill, but I followed the protests a little bit anyway, as for me it's kinda interesting from the tactical point of view (I've been aware of this type of protests since 2000

I've read German Police tries to handle the protesters as if they were kids in a kindergarten: they don't punish them (here's the link where I read that:

Czech journalist on location, doing interviews etc.; I don't expect you to read this, I post it to show I didn't make it up),

and I believed that yesterday in the evening, while watching for several minutes live (Reuters, so I assume it's credible) coverage of the protests:

(see? Police has no phalanx formation, no shields, no long batons ... here they would have also horses and LOL! Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs which are German Shepherds cross-bred with wolves, really, it's like a chainsaw if unleashed)

but today I saw pictures of Police carrying assault rifles later I mean during the night ... let's wait and see, but in my comfortable chair the German tactics looks strange

Journalists are just English majors that sometimes get to travel. I found most of them to have tunnel vision on what they are reporting. Aldo who said the editor isn't biased, or the paper itself.
A friend of friend told me half a century ago that many of her fellow students at a journalism school in the Netherlands were uninterested in news. Those become the best journalists to produce fake news.
