(Defensa.com) During the seminar on the Gripen fighter aircraft conducted annually by the manufacturer Saab, reported on progress in the different versions of Swedish fighter aircraft manufacture. The manufacturing program of the 36 devices for Brazilian Air Force is progressing well and now we would be in the process of approval of the relevant export licenses. In this sense remember that in November last year the UK announced the possibility to veto the export of British manufacturing systems employing the Gripen, which account for about 30% of the aircraft.

Around 100 Brazilian engineers will travel to company facilities in Linköping later this year to participate in the formation and development of the fuselage, including the development of the two-seater version. This is a reflection of the growing Brazilian participation in the program and actually Jerker Ahlqvist, head of the business unit Gripen Saab Aeronautics, said that maybe ten to fifteen aircraft of the Brazilian program will be assembled at Embraer. According Ahlqvis, Embraer will have full capacity in the future to make the Gripen. The company also appreciates the effect it has had the election in October of Gripen NG in Brazil year, as several neighboring countries have shown interest in the aircraft.

VERY good news for Brazil.

I believe they have made a good choice and expect that they will build more in the future...including the naval variant.

What the heck does britain have against Brazil to veto the export of it's technology in Gripens?? Do they fear that Brazil would share the technology with Argentina??

Yes I believe so. That and the UK would like to deny the current argentine administration from acquiring any type of combat aircraft. Even the venerable Mirage F-1.
