Boston Terror Attack

Two explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Interesting I'm watching CNN and they seem to be very careful about the speculation. I saw their coverage of the head of prisons in Colorado who was gunned downed and they were already blaming at the start on Muslim terrorism.

BOSTON (AP) — Two explosions shattered the finish of the Boston Marathon on Monday, sending authorities out on the course to carry away the injured while stragglers in the 26.2-mile race were rerouted away from the smoking site.

Competitors and race volunteers were crying as they fled the chaos. Bloody spectators were being carried to the medical tent that had been set up to care for fatigued runners.

"There are a lot of people down," said one man, whose bib No. 17528 identified him as Frank Deruyter of North Carolina. He was not injured, but marathon workers were carrying one woman, who did not appear to be a runner, to the medical area as blood gushed from her leg. A Boston police officer was wheeled from the course with a leg injury that was bleeding.

Neither race officials nor public officials could immediately estimate the number or degree of injuries.

About three hours after the winners crossed the line, there was a loud explosion on the north side of Boylston Street, just before the photo bridge that marks the finish line. Another explosion could be heard a few seconds later.

Smoke rose from the blasts, fluttering through the national flags lining the route of the world's oldest and most prestigious marathon. TV helicopter footage showed blood staining the pavement in the popular shopping and tourist area known as the Back Bay.

"There are people who are really, really bloody," said Laura McLean, a runner from Toronto, who was in the medical tent being treated for dehydration when she was pulled out to make room for victims of the explosions. "They were pulling them into the medical tent."

Cherie Falgoust was waiting for her husband, who was running the race.

"I was expecting my husband any minute," she said. "I don't know what this building is ... it just blew. Just a big bomb, a loud boom, and then glass everywhere. Something hit my head. I don't know what it was. I just ducked."

Runners who had not finished the race were diverted straight down Commonwealth Avenue and into a family meeting area, according to an emergency plan that had been in place.

Terrible news. The police have since found two more unexploded devices, so it could have been a lot worse, so that is something to be thankful for at least.

Just hope the casualty figures are not as high as some reports I have seen.

It is staggering that anyone was able to leave any devices at all at such a high profile and high security event. Someone screwed up real bad to allow this to happen at all.

I think the terrorist hype sort of died off, and perhaps no one really thought of events as unpolitical as marathons are actually targeted.

I also do think it could be domestic. I'm also sort of worried that if the law enforcements don't find out who's behind all this, more bombings will follow.

And I really hope in regards to this news, people and forum members can show some compassion and sympathy for what had happened. It's a very tragic event. Mockery is totally inhumane and unacceptable.

The attacks were initially reported as terrorist attacks. Such attacks are to be condemned no matter rightful excuse they claimed because they target civilians. I STRONGLY CONDEMN SUCH ATTACKS and hope police will arrest those responsible to it.

I called all my family members up in the Boston area, and thankfully they are alright! My sister couldn't get in touch with her husband who works in the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston with her cell phone for most of the day because they shut it down , to possibly prevent the perpetrator from further triggering another bomb somewhere else. He's okay now. It's pretty surreal for them right now. My condolences to all the victims family members.:(

It's tax day. It's Boston. I wouldn't be surprised it's domestic.

April 14 is normally when taxes are due, but because of the fact it was a sunday there was a bump to monday.
April 15 however in Massachusetts is a state holiday, Patriots day, remembering the battles of Lexington and Concord the first battles of the American revolutionary war. The Boston Marathon is traditional healed on that day. The Marathon fits the traditional terrorist profile, but not quite the domestic terrorist profile as they tend to go for government structures . That said we still have so little to go on.
An aside.
I live in western mass in fact one could say my home town was the first case of domestic anti US government activity when the local court house was burned and shot up during the Shay rebellion. I have been to Boston a number of times. And intend to again.
