and the list we have assembled thus far is all Ground generals no air generals. I threw in a Marine general Smith, We could expand this really widely. And we have to ask are selves are we looking to over all commanders like Ike. Or field commanders like Rommel Monty and Patton or Commanders who laid critical ground work like Smith who fathered modern Amphibious assaults which proved critical in the Pacific war on Japan and the Normandy landings.

So, I suggest we go ahead and let people vote on the following 26 names. It gives a very broad coverage and will allow the top gground force generals overall, and from each nation to come through:

    Zhukov - Soviet Union
    Patton - United States
    Rommel - Germany
    Montgomery - Great Britian
    Shunroku Hata - Imperial Japan
    Mao Zedong - China
    Ivan Bagramyan - Soviet Union
    McArthur - United States
    Jodl - Germany
    Harold Alexander - Great Britian
Prince Kotohito Kan'in - Imperial Japan
    Chiang Kai-shek - China
    Nikolai Vatutin - Soviet Union
    Eisenhower - United States
    Model - Germany
    Viscount Gort - Great Britian
    Hisaichi Terauchi - Imperial Japan
    Zhu De - China
    Ivan Konev - Soviet Union
    Bradley - United states
    Claude Auchinleck - Great Britian
    Shunroku Hata - Imperial Japan
    Chen Cheng - China
    Semyon Timoshenko - Soviet Union
    Smith - United States
    Yan Xishan - China

    What do you think?
