Speeds very close for all, AIP and very long range maybe one have more big.
I have see Type 216 and Shortfin Barracuda with VLS never Soryu.
Some arrangements, good ideas by ex for SF.

A boat of this size yet Soryu is armed with 30 weapons actually the more potent SSK and others same or a little more.
You get there state on art SSK.

Only problem actually for her 6 Collins RAAN get only 4 crews ! need a big ramp up for up to 12, possible ? seems extremely difficult Collins worck better, well now but coz it max 2 deployed in general.

For the Soryu type to adopt VLS it will need to be stretched by another 6 meters which brings out a lot of problems.
I also believe the 216 with crew of only 33 is problematic.

Please elaborate what is the problem with 216 with crew of 33?

I believe 216 is the best, I do hope Australian govt choose 216 ... the reasons :
* Only 33 sailors needed, you know labour is super expensive in Australia
* Very advanced AIP
* VLS

I think German govt will help to win this competition, there is no reason not to

Too much reliance on automation in a big boat with a small crew means when something goes wrong like a water leak could result in cascade failure to the entire automated system.
Human crews are not on board just to do what they were assigned for but to handle various emergency tasks critical to survival of the crew.

hmmm, I don't know whether I'd agree with that kind of thinking ..... in 21st century?

I have see a Super Soryu variant with VLS ?

I have read on a magazine for this deal, about 10 missiles in VLS for the 2 others.

A little pub for the French contender :D

21st century is not going to bring muscle power in a whim that is going to wade through icy water and work coherently as a team without a per-prepared program evaluating the situation which will be too late. AI is going to be at least 50 years in the future to be able to pull that kind of stunt, same with robotics.

The German sub works fine when all things are working properly but war ships needs to work properly when things are not working properly as well or a battle is lost.
