Anyone else heard the news about the Spanish supplied landing craft to RAN which sank when loaded with Abram tank ?

12 craft were sold for the two LHD advertised as capable of lifting the MBT

At over 60 tons apparently landing craft sank too low into the water

Now that's down under not good news

A couple officers of the Royal Australian Navy were present when this OP was performed where an Spanish Army Leopard 2A4 (marginally lighter than the AUS M1A1 Abrams) was loaded in an spanish LCM1E.

Supposedly the behaviour of the LCM was considered good enough for the RAN officers.

I'm spanish and I have a couple friends in the army (Specops) and Navy (one captain and two Lts).

Regarding the LCM 1Es capabilities, their design was done in 1999 with 2 prototypes built. The rest of LCM1Es were modified vessels with modifications based on the prototypes capabilities.

From what someone has told me, the LCM can move with an M1A1,but..... with little reserves, and that should only be done in relatively good sea conditions.

Yes that was the story

Combat ready Abram is over 60 tons the promotional video was showing a much lighter tank I think it was the M60 Patton

RAN took 12 of these craft $240 million deal and has 59 Abram tanks

Question is what will be the outcome
