Salt is soluble, no matter how much filtering you do, it won't do anything. The only way to remove salts by "filtering" is through reverse osmosis, typically found in desalination plants. This "filter" is actually a membrane design to work on the difference of molecule size of water and salt molecules, so in the nanometer scale. A T-shirt have pore in micrometer scale, so all salts will pass through.

Jura, I've read and told many survival techniques & stories. It was part of the circrulium. My point is this young man from Indonesia did not filter salt water through a T-shirt. Impossible.

I think it's more likely that he survived off of rain water.

I saw the story on the news and they even mentioned that the waves caused from the ship that rescued the teen caused the fish trap he was floating on to capsize. 49 days out at sea... The kid was supposedly found off closest to Guam. That's a long distance from Indonesia which is also probably a lie because the kid and his fish trap wouldn't have survived out there that long.

The question is who's the original liar? It could be the teen wanting the attention. It could be the crew of that ship. They took the video and gave it to the media. Then you have the media without thinking.

    REQUEST -

People, I need to enhance my language skills. There is going be a much greater Chinese influence and presence in my country. Currently, the main group would be construction workers. But once projects are completed the number of tourists and businesses coming from mainland China will increase rapidly. I've already personally met more, more tourists especially since I live near the beach. The Colombo port city is also moving onto a new phase.

So I want to be able to Read, Write and speak Chinese (Mandarin?) at least at a basic level. There are several 'Confucius Centers' run by universities in my country but I am kinda broke these days and time is also a factor.

So can anyone recommend a bunch of good books or even YouTube videos?

    Thanks a million

    Hyper

I notice one thing; the news you read on edition.cnn.com are usually can be read days ago elsewhere. Why? Isn't CNN one of the largest news agency in the world? Is CNN a reliable news source?

CNN is NOT a reliable news source, but a left leaning propaganda generator, sadly many traditionally reliable Western news outlets are more about anti-Trump, anti American propaganda, but some folks here love it for that very reason....

Fox is a conservative news outlet, but they do allow several liberal anchors to balance their reportage, many here do not like Fox because of their conservative stance, but they do tend to present both sides on issues...

    That seldom happens on CNN....

I just got an idea from playing to much farcry and reading about the captured Indian pilot. Why doesn't combat pilots wear a wingsuit or foldable glider to escape if they are fighting a few kilometers from the border? I read that it's illegal to shoot pilots in parachute, does a wingsuit change that rule?

Its relative in the US. CNN is probably more left. Fox is hard right and even coordinates their message with the white house and GOP. What they call "liberals" is their own label. NPR is probably the least biased broadcast media source in the US. The biggest thing to keep in mind here is that mainly people over 60 actually watch TV news crap anyway.

If you want unbiased, fact based news, read the Economist.
