Hi, I'm new here. I'm not a military analyst or even an expert. I just a fanboy who like Chinese military hardwares. So please forgive me if I'm doing some foolish post in here and there. As that's not intentional, or has no evil intent.

Ok, I have a question about the 052D Destroyer's AAW capability. Well, I have read most of Jeff Head's writing about 052D and those were very informative and help me learn and then love this ship (thanks Jeff). The problem is, I still don't know about the 052D destroyer's AAW capability (and maybe not limited to 052D but AAW ships in general, AEGIS included).

So this ship is equipped with HHQ-9 and other missiles to protect herself. Ok, how good is an Anti Ship Warship capability to fight a low altitude fighter? For example, if it is being attacked by a group of fighter that flew at low altitude (just several hundred meter above the sea level) with missiles like KH-59 at hand? I'll be very grateful if someone can explain about the 052D to face this threat. But if not, using another AAW ship or AEGIS is also okay.

I'm not comparing the capability of KH-59 and the HHQ-9. Just want to know that if a AAW warship can protect herself against such threat. Thanks.

thanks.
We do not know as much about the PLAN defense system capabnility as we do AEGIS. Their testing is not as open to the public as we see with the US Navy and AEGIS.

But, I have to believe that the Chinese have developed a very decent integrated system.

They have very decent APARs on the vessels. With the Type 052D they have a mulit-role VLS system, meaning it can carry various types of vertically launched missiles from ASW to ASMs, to AAW and possible even quad packed medium range AAWs. We just do not know the exact capabilities.

There is no doubt that the Chinese have designed the system to be able to engage all sorts of AAW threats from ski-skimming missiles, to low flying aircraft, to various types of anti-surface missiles (suspersonic, high flight profile, etc.).

How effective is that system? We just do not know. But I believe that the western intelligence agencies are trying to find out more (certainly more than we know here) and also know myself that they respect this vessel...as well as the Type 052C vessels.

My feeling is that the Chinese have developed an AEGIS-like capability and are now fielding it in some numbers. They would not do this is they had doubts about its abaility to have some decentl level of effectiveness against existing threats.

IMHIO, probably not an anti-ballistic missile capability as we are seeing now in the AEGIS vessels, but below that capability, probably very decent..

How effective they are against various counter-measures, we jus do not know.

From what I learn so far, there is an area that people called "beyond the horizon". I don't know, maybe other call it LOS? Thus, somebody said that radar can't detect that area. At least not from the surface of the sea. We don't know how 052D handle this matter. But I know that many people in SDF know about AEGIS. So how an AEGIS handle this matter? I mean detecting objects beyond the horizon or LOS?

Can they detect this area with their own radar? If so, then how they do it? If not, then how can the navy cover this weakness? Thanks.

I'm sorry for my bad English. I'm not a native English speaker. Sometime the grammar kills me.

I know there is a Window 10 thread somewhere, I tried to search everywhere but just can't find it.

Anyway, my question is has anyone encounter this message? And what is your recommendation? I like Window 10's EDGE for browser, is it really that un-secure?

Yep.. it is also unsecured for Norton. We don't use the edge browser.

My suggestion is to use the FREE ;

According to the IT guys where I once worked Microsoft essentials is as good as any anti-virus protection a person can buy.

Here's a link to the windows 10 thread;

Can someone please ID this PLAN vessel? I'm not sure which class it's from, but it looks like an older frigate. Is it still in service?

That is the PLAN training ship Zheng He. She recently visited Pearl Harbor.
