Hi guys,

I bumped into a very detailed article on the F25T Naresuan class Frigate today. it was published in the 1990s and contain some very interesting comments, such as German assistance in China's shipyards:

Yeah I also came agross that article a while ago and its quite interesting indeed. It gives good insights of the development of not just F25T but for the birth of the chinese modern shipbuilding industry. Same site should have similar article about 052 Luhu class DDGs, it had some minor mistakes, mainly in the speculations of the weaponsystem fit but othervice its equally interesting.

I found a couple of really nice Thai frigate photos today, taken from the top and shows lots of detail. These are Chinese made ships, fitted with western upgrades.

As an interesting side note, they were originally going to have an 8-cel VLS system installed, but it was omitted due to cost considerations. Never the less the toy models for this ship still has the VLS cels in place.

It kinda gives an impression of what a Jiangwei would've looked like with small VLS system.

Here's a couple pics of Jiangu-class frigates in Royal Thai Navy service. Excellent close-up shots from the top.

These are from first batch of Frigates sold to Thailand, equipped with Chinese made weapon systems. Despite reports of Royal Thai navy being unhappy with its quality, it looks like they've taken excellent care of the ships.

This ship looks quite decent, made in China frigate, pre-054 vintage. Shows you the direction, or "missing link" between the evolution from Jiangwei to Jiangkai.

Actually thats the OPV to Thailand which was build afterwards the first 054 pair. Its far smaller than the 054 and even Jiangwei, only about 85 meters long or so.

The OPV ships are:
HTMS 511 Pattani
HTMS 512 Naratiwat

I noticed that the article specified the OPV's were powered by Ruston Paxman diesel engines. If I'm not mistaken these are the same ones that power Singapore's Endurance class LST.
