Confirmation of what we know already, but nice to have it made official:

"...It [The Carrier Task Group] will vary according to the circumstances of each deployment, but in a high threat environment we would expect a carrier to be accompanied by 2 destroyers for air defence, 2 frigates for anti-submarine protection, a tanker and a solid support ship, together with an attack submarine held on a reasonably tight rein."1012777_555995004442251_1146597209_n.jpg 37593470765_ac81296764_k.jpg

I have always loved the bow art work on the HMS Dragon. Very nice...very distinctive, and something I bet those sailors are proud of.

Oh the HArriers will continue for some time with the USMC...and they are still used to good effect with their electronics and weaponry.

But they are far less capable than the F-35Bs which will be replacing them and the sooner the USMC can get those F-35Bs out to all of their wings the better as far as I am concerned.

They will bring significant improvement to the USMC capability over the harriers in terms of almost every measure from CAS to strike to air dominance and dog-fighting, to stealth of course, and on and on.

They HArriers have been a very good thing for the USMC and they have served the Marines very well...but the F-35B will be a much needed step up.
