The US is ramping up it FON and exercises in the SCS.

As I said before, China is not going to be able to stop this...short of war which no one wants, and which IMHO China is not prepared for in the SCS at this date.

At the same time, the US is not going to be able to stop or force China to change its stance or development of islands in the south China Sea.

So you end up withj a nre reality where China has strong bases in the SCS and continue to develop them as it wil, while the US has a much larger [presence in the SCS than before.

As long as everyone keeps their cool, this hurts no one and allows both sides to make the statemetns they want to make.

I really don't see the issue

USN is excercising freedom of navigation tomorrow China will do the same

A Chinese carrier strike group can appear off the coast of the Western United States no harm done

This works both ways and during Cold War was routine

The only thing we as people don't see is that there is a tick for tak game going on between each other to show that neither is sleeping

The Royal Navy would routinely detect soviet nuclear submarines near U.K. waters in return the U.K. SSN would also be present and also give away that they are there and watching

This told Soviet we know you are there you keep distance so should we

This went on for the best part of 40 years

Sometimes they would test sometimes RN

But be prepared because everytime you will either be tagging or getting tagged

The US Navy has been patrolling the Pacific including the SCS for over 70 years. This will not change. A proof when I served aboard Midway in '74 we conducted an training operation with Taiwan in the Taiwan straits for several days.

Exactly...

US Navy Review...10-12 years ago.

And these pictures actually show it as it happened back then.

I have seen as many as four CVNs together but cannot find the pics right now...and the six LHDs loaded up for sea control speaks for itself:

I'd love to see the US some time, purely for PR, bring six CVNs together with maybe eight Burke DDGs and four Tico CGs in formation togehter with four Virginia SSNs out front.

Can you imagine such a show?

when the USN had SEVEN CVNs deployed at once....

Only one navy in the World can deploy this many REAL carriers at one time...

Every sailor from seaman recruit to Fleet Admiral serving with the USN is trained in firefighting and Damage Control. Everyone....
Amen to that my friend.

The pictures from Summer Pulse, showing carriers deployed at various places around the world, siad something like this:

Here's one pic from the Atlantic with two US Navy CVNs and other nations flatops, including a US Navy LHD:

000 US CVN Review-05.jpg

US Navy said:
040712-N-5405H-101 Atlantic Ocean (July 12, 2004) -- The nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65), on far left, steams through the waters of the Atlantic Ocean in formation with US NAVY ships and other multi-national warships as part of Majestic Eagle 2004. USS Truman (CVN-75) is on the far right. Enterprise is one of seven carriers involved in Summer Pulse 2004. Summer Pulse is the simultaneous deployment of seven aircraft carrier strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide credible combat power across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Summer Pulse is the Navy's deployment under its new Fleet Readiness Plan (FRP). The strike group will conduct a scheduled training excercise followed by overseas pulse operations. Official U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate Airman Joshua E. Helgeson. Image released by LT. K.R. Stephens, PAO-CVN-65.

Here's another one with three US Carriers in the Philippine Sea, which included Reagan, Kitty Hawk, and Abraham Lincoln:

000 US CVN Review-04.jpg

Having seven carrier deployed at once, particularly with large forces of our allies, demonstrates an awesome amount of power available at once.

So here we see Truman, Enterprise, Kitty Hawk, Reagan, and Lincoln when seven were deployed. Two m,ore were somewhere else at the same time.

Of course in 2004 we had 12 carriers commissioned. Since then, Kitty Hawk and enterprise have been pulled from service. Enterprise is decommissioned and being taken apart. Kitty Hawk is in the reserve fleet.

Oh, just classic "line ahead" photo with several CVNs will do. :)
