Lieutenant General
It is complicated to insert a quote. I like the old school way. I also think the number of photos per post should be at least 10 per post maximum. 5 is just not enough....just sayin'...

Well you will get a big belly laugh out of this!

I knew it! That Iran mock air craft carrier was a missile test alright.

Here are some more pics of Iran's Naval exercises sinking a particle board and sheet metal US Carrier model...and a video:

As I say...not hard to sink a defenseless, unpowered, sheet metal and particle board hulk.

Marginally more effective than North Korea's exercises using one of their off shore islands as a "model" US carrier.

Hehehe...Popeye, given that last pic in the Iranian naval exercises against the model US Aircraft carrier...it still looks like they could not sink it. LOL!

Imagine now, all of that punishment against an actual carrier, with the carrier actually built (and built well) to take that punishment, and condition Zebra set.

The US itself knows. It tried for several days to sink the older super carrier USS America in a SINKEX...firing missiles, bombs, gunfire, torpedoes, etc. at it. In the end, as I understand it, they had to send explosive ordinance people onboard the ship and rig it up internally to sink it.

I have not been following the MiG-29K development well. I wonder how the take off weight of this aircraft over the ski ramp compares with a take off from a runway on land, in view of discussions based on opinions and not on facts about the J-15 on CV-16.

That's pretty impressive, especially without a crew fighting to keep her afloat.

Navy proposing a 2 phase approach to CVN-79. Accelerate build to gain efficiency but stretching out electrical and electronics installation.

quote from this article:
a second phase in the build process for the carrier, where we’re going to bring in electronics, electronic systems that would be obsolete if we were to buy them early. So we’re going to buy them as late as possible, install them as late as possible, so that the systems we install are in fact state of the fleet at the time the carrier delivers.
inspired this question: after how long the electronics on an aircraft carriers needs to be replaced so that it's not obsolete? (my guess would be during a RCOH, but I'm likely wrong :)
