But nooo  for Algeria Jeff !!! you read too fast :D

Same hull as South African Meko A200, 3700 t, 121 m. 2 on order.

And RBS-15 MK III is a very recent ssm also capable against land target but not a real LACM as Tomahawk because get a warhead of 200 kg against 450 a difference... mainly against bases or others, more big that a ship ofc.

Oops...I will go back and fix my error...for Algeria then.

But still, you would think that with a 127mm gun and with sixteen SSms that the displacement would go up some?

German built MEKO A-200 AN Frigate for Algerian Navy launched by TKMS in Kiel
V3Zry1b.jpg

Germany's ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) launched in early December the first of two MEKO Frigates (designated MEKO A-200 AN) at a shipyard in Kiel. Algeria ordered two frigates (with an option for two more) in March 2012.
...
Based on a scale model of the MEKO A-200 AN frigate on display on the CMN/Privinvest booth during Euronaval 2014, the new class of frigate is set be heavily armed:
» 1x Oto Melara 127/64 LW 127mm main gun (possibly with VULCANO ammunition)
» 2x MSI 30mm guns (possibly SEAHAWK A2 model)
» 16x SAAB RBS 15 Mk3 anti-ship missiles
» 32x VLS for Denel Umkhonto-IR surface to air missiles
» 2x MU90 torpedo launchers
» 4x Rheinmetall MASS decoy launchers
» Possibly 2x Sagem NGDS decoy launchers (on each side of the VLS cells, this seems unlikely however with the MASS system already in place)

Based on the model, sensor suite includes:
» SAAB Sea Giraffe AMB 3-D surveillance radar
» Thales UMS4132 Kingklip hull mounted sonar
» SAAB CEROS 200 optronic/fire control radar

It is unclear at this time who will provide the combat management system but it will likely be SAAB's 9LV or Thales' TACTICOS.

Similar to the Valour class, the MEKO A-200 AN seems to be fitted with the unusual CODAG-WARP system (COmbined Diesel And Gas turbine-WAter jet and Refined Propellers) which consists in a water-jet drive, in addition to two propellers.

According to several sources, the first MEKO A-200 AN should be delivered to the Algerian Navy at the end of 2015/early 2016.

As always...another GREAT article.

These Algerian Meko 200 ANs are going to be VERY powerful:

Armament:
01 x Oto Melara 127/64 LW 127mm main gun (possibly with VULCANO ammunition)
02 x MSI 30mm guns (possibly SEAHAWK A2 model)
16 x SAAB RBS 15 Mk3 anti-ship missiles
32 x VLS for Denel Umkhonto-IR surface to air missiles
02 x MU90 torpedo launchers
04 x Rheinmetall MASS decoy launchers
02 x Sagem NGDS decoy launchers (possibly)

Sensors:
» SAAB Sea Giraffe AMB 3-D surveillance radar
» Thales UMS4132 Kingklip hull mounted sonar
» SAAB CEROS 200 optronic/fire control radar

Interesting how number of anti-ship missiles increased on frigates . For example Perry-class had 4, same as older Krivak-class ships or MEKO 140 . Displacement of MEKO 200 is closer to MEKO 360 (destroyers) , yet even MEKO 360 has 8 AShM .

This is in addition to the three OCEAN EAGLE 43 trimaran patrol vessels and three HSI32 interceptors (and several fishing vessels) that were ordered by the African nation back in September 2013. Meanwhile, the first trimaran patrol vessel has just been launched by the French Shipyard.

Israeli air force

Negotiations had been started, but Israel’s defence ministry ordered them to stop following a request by Washington, says a source familiar with the process. The US administration probably does not want to be involved in any way in the domestic war in Nigeria between the nation’s army and Boko Haram militants, the source adds.

Israeli sources say Nigeria had also wanted to purchase more Israeli-made UAS. The country in 2006 purchased a number of Aerostar vehicles made by Aeronautics Defense Systems.

The Israeli defence ministry declines to make a statement on the matter, noting: “We never comment on the export of Israeli-made weapon systems.”

Flightglobal's Ascend Fleets database records the Israeli air force as having 37 E, F and S model AH-1s in storage.
