The strengthening of the partnership with Embraer in the programs of the KC-390 jet and Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 executive, in addition to winning new contracts in information systems management area airports boosted investment Rockwell Collins Brazil. To meet new customer projects of the Armed Forces, airports as well as airlines, Rockwell doubled its facilities in Brazil and opened a new base in Sao Jose dos Campos.

The company has appointed the executive Marcelo Vaz to be the new president of Rockwell Collins in Brazil, replacing Nelson Aquino, who has been in office over 30 years. Aquino continues in the company, but now in the coordination of projects that will support the company's growth in the region.

"Over the last five years we invested $ 10 million in Brazil and we will probably invest the same amount in the next five years," said Alan Prowse, vice president of Rockwell Collins in the Americas. The executive recognizes the difficulties imposed by the crisis, but says that after 40 years in the country, the company has learned to deal with the ups and downs of the Brazilian economy.

Prowse estimates a market of products and services in Brazil over US $ 5 billion over the next five years, during which hopes to expand its activities in the country between 15% and 20%. Embraer remains the main partner of the company in Brazil.

The military jet KC-390, for example, which was the first military aircraft to apply the technology of integrated avionics Pro Line Fusion Rockwell, now also have the release of cargo and air delivery control system (CHADCS in acronym in English) of the company. The Chadcs is a digital control system used to maintain, monitor and execute accurately airdrops cargo, vehicles and troops.

"It is a critical system aircraft security, but is designed to allow the load to be released at the right time and at the right speed," said the executive.

Vaz says that the new agreement with Embraer increases by 30% the company's participation in the KC-390 program. "We are well positioned in the Brazilian market and the talents needed to keep growing. We set as a goal a 5% growth in sales by 2019," he said.

The expectation of the company, according to the executive, is that 50% of overall revenue comes from the international market. For fiscal year 2016, it expects sales between $ 5.3 billion to $ 5.4 billion.

Rockwell also just signed a contract with the Galeao International Airport in Rio de Janeiro, to provide technology solutions that will optimize the passenger and baggage control during the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2016.
"The system will also perform the leasing of aircraft in the yards and flight information, relieving congestion at the gates and improving match rates and arrival," said Sales Director of Management Services Rockwell information in Latin America, Augusto saints.
The automatic verification system Rockwell Arinc passengers is also at the international airport of Sao Paulo (GRU). The first phase of the project came on stream during the World Cup in 2014.
In the past three years, according to Vaz, Rockwell increased by 50% local staff in Brazil (currently 50 people), to meet the development programs in the country and the technology transfer process in strategic areas of interest of the country .
The six Legacy 500 aircraft to FAB acquired Embraer missions inspection flights and airports calibration also use equipment from Rockwell Collins. In addition to the Pro Line Fusion avionics, the jets are being equipped with Talon radios, airborne communication system. We have been selected as secure communication system for helicopters of the Brazilian Army in 2013.
In 2014 Rockwell began manufacturing in Brazil airborne HF radio-9087D for helicopters E225 M, which is producing Helibras for the Brazilian armed forces. The contract also includes the provision of testing and high-frequency radio repair services in the country.
This type of radio, high frequency, allows long-range communications and at high altitudes with application in air traffic control, weather warnings and marine storm, security threat warnings and radiotelephone service.

The MECTRON, a Brazilian company controlled by Odebrecht Defesa e Tecnologia (ODT), announces the approaching completion of the development of the MAN-SUP, the first anti-ship missile Brazilian Surface-Surface and is preparing to launch its first qualification. Achieving this release will be an unprecedented milestone in the country and should take place in the second half of 2016 from a ship of the Navy of Brazil.

In addition to providing the Brazilian armed missiles national anti-ship, taking into account their operational requirements, the MAN-SUP Program Brazil's Navy aims to ensure Brazil dominance and technological autonomy throughout the life cycle of armaments in its class from development to operation and maintenance, always in partnership with the national defense industry.

In MECTRON, activities are focused on finalizing the design, manufacture, integration and testing of prototypes that will be used for launches from Navy ships in the Brazilian coast, against a simulated target positioned approximately 70 km ship launcher. Flavio Gesca, Director of MAN-SUP Agreement on MECTRON, explains that "although not yet have a date for the launch, we are entering the final stretch of an event that will be historic for the Navy of Brazil and the national defense industry .

Will be the realization of a strategic decision a few years ago by the Directorate of Naval Weapon Systems (DSAM): investing in the development of national technology. See today the ability of our teams and the highest value-added results being generated, it is very rewarding. "

The MAN-SUP development program began in December 2011, a division of labor with two other Brazilian companies. Was attributed to Mectron responsibility for what is considered the "brains missile," the System Guiding Navigation and Control, which brings together the subsystems that provide autonomy and intelligence to control the missile throughout its flight, a trajectory feature "sea skimming" (flight close to the sea) toward the target.

Additionally, MECTRON has responsibility for the development of the Telemetry System that will be used in support of the verification of the functionality of the prototypes in their actual postings. The following figure illustrates the Mectron responsibility subsystems in the development of MAN-SUP:

FAdeA tests first IA-58H Pucara with new engines
Gabriel Porfilio, Orlando, Florida - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly
The first FAdeA IA-58H Pucara light strike aircraft equipped with new Pratt & Whitney Canada PT-6A-62 engines, after several delays, took its maiden flight on 24 November.

The aircraft selected (tail number AX-561) in June received a re-modelled set of wings from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to accommodate the replacement engines, and then went through several ground tests in preparation for the flight.

FAdeA initiated the Pucara's engine upgrade process in 2011, selecting the ubiquitous PT-6A-62 to replace the discontinued Turbomeca Astazou XVIG, which was proving difficult to maintain.

The project plans to upgrade as many as 20 frames from Argentine Air Force stocks, but currently only one set of re-modeled wings has been received from IAI and it is unclear if more will be forthcoming in the near term.

Embraer is approaching a milestone in its initiative to upgrade the line of regional jets that gave international recognition to the Brazilian manufacturer of aircraft for two decades.

The release of the updated version of the E190 jet, known as E190-E2, was scheduled for the end of February, according to Embraer. The first airplane flight expected in the second half of next year, said Embraer by e-mail before the commercial debut scheduled for 2018.

The definition of a timetable for the plane's public launch signals the progress of the reform of the line Embraer jets And with wings, new engines and landing gear. Airlines typically use smaller aircraft models and, as the E175, 76 seats to carry passengers between hubs and employ the largest, as the E190, with 100 seats on longer routes.

"This is a company launching the right products and then and run the projects," said Richard Aboulafia, vice president of consultancy Teal Group in Fairfax, Virginia, USA.

The main competitor of Embraer in the regional jet market is Bombardier, which has reduced the emphasis on these aircraft and choosing to develop larger models C Series to compete with the planes with a single aisle manufactured by Boeing and Airbus. The backlog of Embraer 530 aircraft was at the end of the third quarter, including 267 E2 units, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The total number of Bombardier's order for your CRJ was 70 units. Isabelle Gauthier, a spokesman for Bombardier, based in Montreal, Canada, said the company had nothing to declare.

Challenging schedule

The E190-E2 will be the first of the updated Embraer aircraft to enter commercial service and then come larger and smaller versions. Adhere to the schedule in the aerospace sector can be challenging: Bombardier is delayed with the C Series, Boeing faced delays with its new 787 Dreamliner and the 747-8 and Japan's Mitsubishi Aircraft postponed three times the initial delivery of your MRJ90.

Embraer has also demonstrated its ability to execute to perform the first delivery of the Legacy 450 executive jet on Monday. The aircraft manufacturer headquartered in São José dos Campos will achieve its guidance to deliver between 115 and 130 business jets this year, said Marco Tulio Pellegrini, CEO of the unit for Embraer.

The company's market share increased on average by about 20 percent annually since 2001, when the company launched its first business jet, and will continue to grow at the same rate, Pellegrini said in an interview in Sao Paulo.
