A timeline map of empires

Hi all,

Love to share this with you, it has more clarity of the conflicting Chinese identity then the Canon Chinese history will present and what a typical western observer will learn.

hey Lezt, not sure what's your point, but I was looking at the upper-left part for most of the time anyway :) I appreciate the Polish push for Moscow is included in this animation :) (in case you're interested:

Yeah it was easy to forget that Russia was almost destroyed by the Poles and at another time the Mongols.

Thanks for the link,

My point is, history is generally taught in a linear way especially in China / Asian culture. It is an idea of the Mandate of Heaven, which can only be one state/nation/country/civilization. Thus events like the northern Yuan and Ming; where the Yuan dynasty still controlled significant land during the Ming dynasty era (in canon Chinese history) yet it was not considered the "official" dynasty. Thus there is a lot of historical interpretation at play; and the official chronology is rewritten by each subsequent dynasty. I am actually getting more fascinated by the different tribes of China and the creation of the idea of what is China.

For me it went too fast because a lot was happening all over the Asia and Europe. Also, especially at the earlier times, a lot more than is shown. :)
