A Bad News.

The Engine is Al31. It might be a J-10B Crash.

There were 2 pilots on the jet, both are safe. Therefore, it was not a J-10B. It was a J-10S twin seater.

Also a Report says: only one pilot on the plane.
If it was only one pilot, the fighter must be J-10B.

I suppose that's why production planes are always test flown by the manufacturer.

Ejection seat worked though.
And also interesting to see the pilot in green flight suit rather than blue

China is phasing out the old blue flight suits-starting from J-10 pilots.

Judging from engine nozzle, it looks like an AL-31 to me. So, if the accident happen in Chengdu then it might be a J-10.

Hopefully the injuries of the civilians are not life threatening. Has any possible explanation for the crash been announced yet?

I don't know about it being a twin seater, though. Despite what someone might report, the dorsal line on the wreckage does not seem to be the larger, more squarish type as seen on j10s but rather the smaller, more rounded type seen on j10a and j10b. Coupled with yellowish looking fuselage bits it really might be a j10b.
