Just in

Pack of JF17 performing CAP at border

2 x JF17 broke to engage

2 x IAF downed

Bloody hell what a colossal news

One of them was a FLANKER

If it was indeed an MKI, then either that was an extremely well-coordinated operation or the IAF made a major blunder.

But now there are reports that Lt. Abhinandan was a wing commander for a MiG-21 squadron. Let the news stew a little longer.

This is fast developing into a major story, and I can see news about it scattered across several threads, so this is to just to try and consolidate the information.

Hopefully this is as far as it goes, in which case this thread will pull together a comprehensive account of the clash and ensuring air combat that saw at least 1 jet shot down.

Please let us all be mindful of the forum rules and the extremely serious nature of this developing story when discussing this.

A while back, a J10 locked into a Su30 during an intercept and prevented it from acquiring back using EW. Something similar could have happened to the Indian jets if the Pakistanis received EW equipment along with the JF-17s.

If I’m not entirely mistaken, MiG 21s are not independent aircraft, not even for relatively outdated air forces. Such planes would be escorted by proper fighters at all times.

Newer reports are stating that the captured pilot was flying MiG-21s that day. Meanwhile, another Indian news outlet claimed that its Su-30MKIs managed to chase PAF F-16 out of Indian airspace.

Latest breaking news has India officially confirm the loss of a Mig21 and its missing pilot.

This was hardly a surprise given the physical evidence Pakistan has already show of the captured pilot and wreckage.
