Update* 1/48 J-10B Vigorous Dragon Trumpeter

Hi guys, scale modeling is a big hobby of mine. I only build 3-5 generation 1/48 fighter jets. After years of building Russian and US jets I think it's time for me to branch out. So here it is J-10B prototype.

The patches of green is somewhat too dark but this will do. Also the the 八一 insignia didn't really go on the prototypes but they just look too good with it so couldn't resist putting them on. Should probably get this finished by this month.

Everything is air brushed.

Thanks for sharing your work here on SDF and a great job you've done so far! I have a question to ask you. How did you paint the thin lines? Did you use an ink pen or a thin brush? I am referring to those black squares and rectangles.

Hi in the 3rd picture I pre-shade all the panel lines with black paint (the black over white). Then lightly air brush the grey over it in picture 5. It will not completely cover the black especially in the panel line area and leave subtle dark shade underneath. Make sure the paint are sufficiently thinned.

Then in picture 8, I used pencil to fill in the panel lines further. Then apply matte clear coat over it. Then apply dirty wash to fill the panel lines inclucing the rivets again, then clean it then apply matte coat again to seal in the wash.

OUSTANDING!

Great to have another builder documenting their builds on SD.

I build 1/72 scale aircraft. In 1/48th, you have so much more detail that can be added.

Looks VERY nice. Great job.

Here''s my 1/72 J-10S build from a little while ago:

I have my J-20 Might Dragon, and J-15 Flying Shark[/b] documented here on SD too.

Here's my site tracking all of my 1/350 scale warship, and 1/72 scale warplane builds.

OUSTANDING!

Thanks for sharing...you do a GREAT job.

Its good to have others documenting their builds here on SD. 1/48 scale provides so much more detail.

I build 1/350 scale warships (modern era) and 1/72 scale war planes (4th and 5th gen) aircraft.

Here's my J-10S in 1/72 scale.

I also have my J-20 Mighty Dragon, and my J-15 Flying Shark here on SD too...along with many others.

Here's my own site documenting all of my builds,
