The M26 is a straight pull bolt action based magazine fed 12 gauge shot gun that can be used either mated too a weapon or on her own the muzzle has a built in standoff attachment allowing for proper spacing when blasting away door hinges and locks. magazine capacity is 8-10 rounds. when in stand alone a stock module is added that has a rail system, recoil buffer equiped m4 stock and a Ar 15 style pistol grip.

Good lord...can you imagine the kick back after firing it by itself without the stock module added?

Speaking about revolver, the US had to invent "Colt 45" during the days (1930/40s - not sure) when they had to confront the Moro Fighters in Southern Philippines. These Moros could only be brought down by this "Colt 45" - not ordinary calibre pistols. These Moro Fighters charged & yelled in the dead of night, dressed in (ghostly) white, & parts of their bodies (arms & legs) torniqued (tightened with strings to withstand wounds), at the soldiers then. I was told that it also happened to the PAF soldiers operating in the South in 1970s. With modern automatic rifles, it is different from the old days, as the opposition would be stopped on their tracks.

At the Time The US army had adopted the M1892 .38 Caliber revolver for the officer and NCO corps, .38 proved a poor choice as an interum the Army brought back a few of the old peacemakers the .45Long Colt Single action army (She still has superior ballistics too .45Acp but not by much) and then built the now hundred plus year old M1911. Today the 1911 is still serving her county putting boot too @$$ the world over However Nato pretty much forced the 9mm down the US proverbial throat in the form of the M9. SOCOM moved on there own too keep .45ACP in with the now retiring MK23, the Seals new MK24 (HK45CT), 1911's, and a few others that work there way in among those troops who can use what they like.
Action in the Rock pile ( Afghanistan) and Sand box (Iraq) has caused the a debate in the US regarding the possibility of moving up in caliber in Assault rifles (5.56Nato) and pistol rounds (9mm).
