Taiwan Military Videos

Just found this today, and figured since I haven't really seen any videos of the Taiwan armed forces it might be something new to some members.

The presentation might be a *little* over the top, but then again most of the videos in this genre are anyway. I'll post more if there is interest.

Re: Taiwan Military Videos

I saw that one ages ago! If you have something new that might be interesting. In fact I've seen quite a few made by the same guy (you can tell because the intros are similar).

Re: Taiwan Military Videos

Yeah, I'm pretty sure most of the Taiwanese videos on YouTube are by the same guy, or at least 2 of them.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any more, but this was actually the first time I had been able to find videos on the subject. (Or it was the first time I actually realized that they were available)

There were some other ones of the recent HK exercises as well that didn't make it into this video, I'll post them later on, I guess.

I think he's done other ones too. I remember seeing one for the PLA and another for the JSDF which had exactly the same intro (i.e. zooming in on a globe). The footage may have been pulled together by other people, but I think the final version is by one person.

Yah, but a lot of people, including, have never seen those videos. It's funny that the only threat that were perceived in the video was a solo-flying su-27 with no missles... That's makes me smile; wish it were really true that way. Btw, are these videos used for military promotional purpose?

Re: Taiwan Military Videos

Well it was a 3rd party video (meaning not government sponsored) so lack of excellent footage is expected. That said, it was pretty well done.

I'd say they are used in "military promotional purposes" if your definition means showing off some of the cool stuff the Taiwanese military has. If you're meaning for recruitment purposes, obviously not, since that is unnecessary in Taiwan... (yay for conscription)

Re: Taiwan Military Videos

The ROC military has shortened its conscription period, and in the future, they hope to become more of a volunteer-based force. Unfortunately, even with troop cuts, the declining birth rate of Taiwan simply means there'll be far fewer male children avail in the future.

In Taiwan they have military news shows avail on cable TV. Usually it's a female announcer dressed in uniform. Next time when I visit Taipei, I'll see if I can haul my laptop with me and do a video capture for you guys. Unfortunately the show is mostly propaganda and not as exciting as the music videos.

Wow really? I never realized that Taiwan had military news shows... which is really ironic considering how long I was there.

I forgot which channel it was on though. My aunt paid for cable TV subscription at grandparent's house and when I channel surfed last year, I bumped into the military news show. It wasn't too exciting though.

Taiwan Military Picture Thread

Some requests for pictures of the Taiwanese armed forces have been made, so here's a couple to get this thread bumped up.

To get us started:

Hai-Lung-class submarine

Keelung-class destroyers
